DESTINATION MOON![]() Tracks: Destination Moon / Le Dernier Train Dans l'Espace / Happy Guitar / Form O Filur / The Spotnicks Theme / Highway Boogie / Western Guitar / La Rosita / Spanish Gypsy Dance / Take Five / Comme Ci Comme Ca / Hot Toddy / Windy And Warm / Lady Of Spain / Dansevise / Galloping Guitars / Familjelycka / Hang On / Trolleboschottis / Thundernest / Wabash Blues / Joey's Song / Space Walk / Skintops Blues / Shamus O'Toole (from PIPELINE #55 - Spring 2002) The Goldfingers are not just some young upstarts
with a passing interest in Spotnicks music. Their average
age is 45 so there's plenty of musical experience at work
here. Lead guitarist Lennart Sundberg has been playing
since the sixties and formed The Goldfingers in 1995.
Hasse Strandberg plays rhythm guitar in the band but will
be remembered for his contributions to numerous
compilation albums under the banner of Hazzeoneline and
The Roadcaster where he played all of the instruments.
Hasse uses a Levin '58, the guitar used by Bob Lander on
The Spotnicks In London LP. Lennart Eliasson on bass and
drummer Mats Axelsson complete this talented line-up. We
have heard The Goldfingers before of course. Thundernest
was included on both Shades Of The Spotnicks and Guitar
Mania Vol.12 where it was joined by Wabash Blues, Joey's
Song, Space Walk, Skintops Blues and Shamus O'Toole. All
six are tagged on to this CD as bonus tracks so
Destination Moon offers you The Goldfingers complete, a
deal you really should not turn down as it is an
outstanding album. The Spotnicks' sound is captured
perfectly and delivered with a richness and bite to
savour. The covers are handled expertly and are broken up
with some non-Spotnicks titles, and there's not a vocal
in sight. The one original is Hasse's title track and a
real stunner it is too, a dramatic, moody theme that
builds and builds. It's a piece that's worth the price of
the album on its own. As the group then launch into Le
Dernier Train Dans L'Espace (sic) with such verve you
know you're onto a real winner. This is an album to sit
back and enjoy, do not overlook it. Alan
